5. How to avoid sports betting scams

How to spot fake tipsters

Everyone wants to make money, and quickly. So unfortunately there are a number of re-occurring scams that you should avoid. Read on for a summary of the top four sports betting scams to avoid.

1. Genuine tipsters do not show-off or brag about their results through emails or over the internet. If you receive emails which over-promise and exaggerate wins- delete them. Always ask to see archives of past tips to verify that tipsters are genuine. They should have archives of all their past tips readily available for anyone to see, just like we have here on our site. 2. Betting systems that promise great wins are usually old systems that have been re-vamped to fleece unsuspecting members of the public. Often presented through attractive websites, accompanied by positive reviews on google, their purpose is to simply make money for the seller and you will soon realize that you have been completely misled.

3. Often taking place over the phone, an offer to be part of a secret gamble, is another tactic to avoid. After convincing you that a particular team will win a match, the scammer will say that there is no need to pay him, just bet HKD1,000.00 on the team for him  and send him the winnings.Unknown to you, the caller will contact an equal amount of people to bet on both teams so that they are guaranteed to win.

4. If you use betting forums, beware of new members posting messages about getting results and knowing a good tipster. The new member is likely to also be the tipster. Keep an eye out for new members who only have one post to their name.
